Camping in Canada
On December 5, 2020 by Walter PowellThe Great White North isn’t always so harsh. In fact, the summer time in Canada is a great season to go camping and enjoy a variety of outdoor activities. Especially in areas such as Toronto and all of Ontario, you can enjoy a relaxing weekend near a handful of lakes, both popular and secluded. All you need is a tent and some sleeping bags Toronto summer fun! If you’re not one for sleeping on the ground or under the stars, there are also plenty of options with cabins or RV campsites so you can enjoy nature comfortably.
Popular Parks
Half the fun of being around water is being on it. Quetico Provincial Park is a great spot for anyone looking to spend time canoeing on the vast lake while they camp in the beautiful trees. This park is a wilderness area, so paddlers are responsible for obtaining a camping permit and only low-impact camping is permitted, meaning tent camps and hiking to desirable spots. For some, this type of camping is a little intense, so if you want something more modern, you can check out Neys Provincial Park. This park sits on the shore of Lake Superior and features plenty of campsites complete with electricity, water, and sewer facilities. This park is easy to reach being right off the Trans-Canada highway, and offers lake activities, beach time, and hiking trails for active campers.
Secluded Spots
If you’re looking for a little more privacy in your camping trip, there are a few parks that offer great secluded spots so you can feel like it’s just you and nature. Awenda Provincial Park is one of these spots. It has perhaps the most secluded campsite options in the area, and the lake in the center is a great destination for swimming, kayaking, or just relaxing on the sandy beach. If you’re looking for a more diverse landscape with lots of privacy, try out Bon Echo Provincial Park. Some campsites in this park are so secluded, you have to paddle just to reach them! It also features breathtaking cliffs and a varied landscape.
Canada is great place to enjoy the great outdoors, and Ontario offers plenty of wonderful spots to camp and enjoy sandy beaches. There are plenty of parks to fit all types of campers, so you just have to decide what you’re looking for and set out for a great weekend getaway!
