4 Things To Do on Your Trip to Eastern VirginiaOn July 27, 2021 by Brent Bates
Whether you are passing through Eastern Virginia while on a road trip or are staying in the area for a long period of time, there are a few attractions you don’t want to miss. Consider four things you can do to relax, learn, and have fun while on the Virginia Coast.
1. Hike in the Great Dismal Swamp
In Suffolk, VA, you and your family can access the Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge. Though its name may be uninviting, this plot of land is a hidden gem where you can spend the afternoon hiking and enjoying scenic views. This area is also home to Sleepy Hole Park and some equestrian trails. You may love this area so much you will want to scope out Suffolk land for sale!
2. Visit Museums
Eastern Virginia also has a lot to offer in the way of museums. In Norfolk, you can visit the Chrysler Museum of Art. If paintings aren’t really your area of interest, try Riddick’s Folly Museum, a historical museum with a special focus on the Civil War. When traveling with young kids, the Children’s Museum of Virginia is a must-see.
3. Go to the Beach
When you’re near the East Coast, you can’t pass up an opportunity to spend a day at the beach. There are plenty of beaches to choose from, some of which are tucked inside the Chesapeake Bay. Be sure to arrive early in the day to find parking and stake out your spot on the sand.
4. Appreciate the Flora and Fauna
Finally, families are sure to love the Norfolk Botanical Garden and the Virginia Zoo. These attractions are located practically side by side in Norfolk. Get your steps in while strolling through the Garden or peeking at exotic animals.
The East Coast of the United States is home to many alluring cities, but those in Eastern Virginia stand out from the crowd. Make the most of your vacation by spending a few days in this humid but beautiful region.
